About This Site

So now that I have spoken a little bit about myself, and my journey into Mormonism, I'd feel it's time to talk about why I created this site. There are two main reasons why I chose to create MyMormonStudies...

Firstly, I think it would be a great place to keep track of my thoughts and ideas relating to Mormonism. This would also be a great opportunity to get feedback on my ideas, or answers to any questions that I have. The second reason is to help others. When searching online for information relating to the LDS Church and it's teachings, it can be very hard to find a non-biased point of view. Whilst starting my research, I encountered three main  types of websites containing information:

1. LDS Websites. There are a number of sites that are ran by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of them provide heaps of information about certain subjects.... but next to nothing about other, not-so-popular subjects.
2. Mormon Blogs. I have encountered many blogs ran by members of the church, that offer their interpenetration on scripture, and talk deeply about gaining your own testimony, and strengthening your faith in Jesus Christ. And, finally:
3. Anti-Mormon Sites. There are large number of "Anti-Mormon" websites out there that claim to offer the "truth" about Mormonism. Sadly, most of the time, the arguments that these sites have to offer are not very well thought out, and are very negative towards the church and it's members.

A Little Bit About Myself

Welcome to My Mormon Studies! Before talking about my plans for this site, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself, and what lead me to creating this site.

I am Jam, a 22 year old from England. In 2007 I was handed a Book of Mormon by a friend who had recently joined the church. I took the book, and thanked my friend for it. That book stayed on my bookshelf for nearly 3 years... unread. Mid 2009, I became friends with a guy, and whilst hiking around my local area we often got into discussions about religion and the idea of God. He had all these ideas about God, Heaven & Hell and ideas about religion that, at the time, I had never heard of before. I soon found out that he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or by the more popular name, the Mormon Church.

As soon as he mentioned the name Mormon, I remembered this book that had been handed to me a few years previous. I instantly had a lot of questions to ask him, but sadly most of the time he would just reply with "Why don't you read the Book of Mormon, and find out for yourself?". This got annoying very quickly, and so at the beginning of 2010 I began to read.
